The Village of Tanzac, France
From 26 June to 7 July 2002, the two of us visited the village of Tanzac in south-west France,
where the Gaucher ancestors originally came from. The village of 251 inhabitants is centred
around a 12th. century church, Saint-Saturnin, in which generations of Gauchers have been baptised,
married and buried, since at least 1630. We had the pleasure of visiting the mayor and the village
historian, and we took over 400 photos of this little community.
We present these to you here to give you a good idea of this delightful little place which is of
such importance in the family's history.
